Peterborough Junior Motocross Club
2007 Winter Series Round 1
Butter Cup Farm Chatteris
7th Oct 2007
Peterborough Junior Motocross Club held the first round of the Winter Series on Sunday at the well-prepared Buttercup Farm in Chatteris. Several riders upgraded to their new groups for the first time, which made for some great racing.
In the automatics Harvey Butttris continued his good form with two wins and a second place, which was enough for overall win. A flying Luke Everritt also had a good day winning the other race and collecting a brace of seconds as well. Sam Curtis took his immaculately prepared bike to a well-deserved third. Unluckiest rider of the day was Brandon Douglas who was really flying on his new bike. A nasty spill in the last race spoilt his chances of a much higher finish.
There were 3 different winners in the Junior 65’s. First up was Sam Morgan in race one, but a disappointing second race spoilt his chances of an overall top three finish. Next up was Austin Eary who won the second race and took overall first place by just one solitary point over Jack Camwell who finished second with three consistent rides. The last race winner was Charlie Buttriss whose unlucky first race spoilt his chances of an overall win.
In the Small Wheel 85’s Max Hind took the early advantage in the series with some great riding. He led the first race from start to finish, but had to work hard in race two to pass an in form Jordan Holliday for the win. Jordan won the third race easily after Max went down on the start corner. However a good comeback to third was enough to give Max the overall win from Jordan. Another Max (Targett) had an impressive debut in the 85 cc class by finishing in third place.
In the Big Wheel 85’s Daley Coldron started the series well with three wins. Jordan Hind pushed him hard, but a slip in each race out an end to his challenge and could only manage third place on the day. Sam Barney put in three strong consistent rides, which was enough to pip Jordan for second place.
In the Youth 125 Peter Cole took the first race win and the overall spoils with some great riding. An impressive Ben Rollinson led the first race for a little while and took second in the last race and overall on his debut in this class. Richard Piccaver rode well as usual and did enough on the day to claim third place. The other two race wins went to Sean Satchwell, but he lost his first race points for riding in the pits, which put an end to his chances of winning overall.
In the Adults, Sean Smith took the overall win by one point from Richard Chapman. Richard took his new 450 to a debut win in the first race, but a poor third race meant that a very consistent Sean Smith nabbed the win. Joe wagstaff made his debut in the adult class with a very impressive third place finish in this competitive class. Matt White won race two and three but an argument with a pot meant a dnf in the first race and sore fingers for the rest of the day.
