Peterborough Junior Motocross Club held its annual “East of England challenge” two-day meeting over the weekend at Buttercup Farm Chatteris. This incorporated round eight of the club championship on the Saturday and round two of the Championship (Cancelled earlier in the year) on the Sunday. The club would like to thank Washbrook Farm Motocross for sponsoring the meeting.
The track held up exceptionally well over the weekend only seeing the odd shower from time to time. In the automatics James Camwell continued his winning streak sweeping all three races including a last place to first place dash in race two. Harvey Buttriss had another good day finishing in second place after some great battles with Luke Everret who finished the day in third place.
The Junior 65’s saw visitor Ben Watson take a clean sweep with some impressive riding. Charlie Buttriss followed him home in all three races whilst a hard charging Max Targett finished third in all three races.
It was a two horse race in the Small Wheel 85 between Nathan Watson and Jordan Hind. A brisk but heavy shower before the first race left the track a little slippy and Nathan took full advantage of a slip by Jordan to take the first win. It was a different story in race two and three where Jordan pulled a comfortable lead and took both wins and the overall. Jordan Jugg had a good battle with Max Hind in each race but managed to take all three third places on the day.
The Big Wheel 85’s saw three different winners. First up was Billy King who loved the slippy first race conditions and headed home in first place. The second race saw a hard charging Jake Millward take the chequered flag after a great fight through the pack following a poor start. Finally, Ben Rollinson got into his rhythm and won the last race and the overall by two points ahead of Jake. Billy took the last spot on the podium.
In the Youth 125’s everyone was anticipating a great battle between Sean Satchwell and Lee Sharpe. They weren’t disappointed as the first races saw a shoulder-to-shoulder battle and narrow victory by Lee after a mistake by Sean on the last lap. The second race was much the same until a crash through the whoops on the last lap put Lee out of action for the rest of the day and left Sean to the spoils. Third place was between Peter Cole and a very impressive Richard Carter (who has only just upgraded). Both lads rode brilliantly and finished second and third respectively.
In the adults the usual suspect, Matt White, cleaned up with three comfortable wins. Martin Edey improved his position in each race throughout the day taking a well-earned second place in the last race and second overall. Darren Manning-Coe had his up and downs on the day but still manage to finish in third spot a couple of points in front of Mark Rudd in fourth.
