PJMC held its annual “East of England Challenge” event at the weekend. The event comprised of six races held over two days. Saturday’s races counted as round eight of the club championship and five out of six races over the two days counted towards the East of England challenge. The well-attended meeting was very kindly sponsored by Washbrook Farm Motocross.
Ashley Rudd took control of the auto group with five fine wins over the weekend on his trick little LEM. The rest of the group was really tight with Thomas Brown and Declan Parberry trading second and third places throughout the weekend, not forgetting Connor Robinson and James Camwell who both got in on the action with some great finishes.
In the Junior 65’s Max Hind powered his KTM to the front in every race, winning five from six races and taking maximum points for the challenge. Ben Stafford on the only KX in the top six was super consistent all weekend and earned second place. Grant Sparrow got stronger as the weekend progressed, even pinching a win from Max on Saturday. A quick mention for Max Targett and Harry Hart who were both riding well until they got tangled in a 7 bike pile up on Saturday, which finished the weekend for both of them… Get well soon lads.
In the Small Wheel 85’s Daley Coldron started the weekend well with a win in the first race. From the second race onwards KTM mounted Jordan Hind turned up the pace with a commanding performance, winning the other five races over the weekend. Daley took second in all the other races leaving Rob Nicholl, George Redhead and Kiene Blake to battle it out for the last podium spot. Rob pushed hard and got the final spot despite it only being his fifth ever race.
In the very competitive Big Wheel 85’s it was the Sean Satchwell show! Despite great efforts from Mitch Eaton, Luke Riley and a flying Alistair Reeve, Sean managed a great maximum for the weekend. The others swapped places all weekend and finished in the order above.
The Youth 125 was fast and furious. Craig Bryber has been the on form rider for most of the year and he didn’t disappoint with a convincing maximum for the weekend. Ashley Moulds was his usual consistent self with a string of second places, He didn’t put a foot wrong all weekend but just needs to turn up the pace a fraction to stay with Craig. Last but certainly not least on the podium was Joe Wagstaff. He’s getting faster every race and really deserved this one.
Finally, the Adults. Unsurprisingly Cain Firth continued his win streak with yet another maximum. Any one who knows PJMC club can probably guess the next two riders…. Yep, Matty White and Adie Thompson, who both rode awesome all weekend. All three guys are really fast, but Cain is just able to pinch a couple of seconds a lap from somewhere. All in all a cracking weekend.
