2007 Championship Round 7

Butter Cup Farm Chatteris
10.6.2007

Peterborough Junior Motocross Club held the 7th round of its club championship at the weekend at the perfectly prepared Buttercup Farm track at Chatteris.

The auto racing was fast and furious up front as usual. Favourite for the championship, James Camwell, hit the deck early in race one leaving a hard charging Harvey Buttriss to get away at the front. James remounted and sliced through the pack to get alongside Harvey through the whoops on the last lap. In the heat of the moment the two of them hit and both went down 25 yards from the finish flag. Harvey was first up and took the win closely followed by James.  James won the next two races and the overall leaving Harvey to battle with a flying Luke Everitt eventually finishing in second and third respectively.

In the Juniors Charlie Buttriss took the first maximum of the day with his usual smooth riding style. Max Targett was hot on his tail every race and its not going to be long before he’s challenging for the win himself. A fine third place went to a fast improving Ashley Rudd who looks like one to watch for the future. Rob Colebrook finished in fourth place after nabbing a great third place in race 3.

The second maximum of the day went to Jordan Hind who blitzed the Small Wheel 85’s from start to finish. Younger brothers, Max Hind, pushed hard and took second place in all three races.
Ben Stafford had a great battle with Justin Dillon in the first race with Justin just pipping him to the post. In races two and three Ben stepped it up a gear, finishing both in third and taking the final spot on the podium.

In the Big Wheel 85’s a win in the first and last race wasn’t enough for Connor Butler to take the overall win. A slip in race two let the on form & very consistent Ben Rollinson get away for the win. With a third and second in the other races Ben took the overall by a single point. A back in form Daley Coldron was always there or there abouts earning a third overall for his efforts.

The third maximum went to Sean Satchwell in the Youth 125. Sean’s “on fire” at the moment and never looked like being headed on his screaming two stroke. Joe Wagstaff put in another sound performance for second overall. At this rate it’s not going to be long before he’s challenging Sean for the win.

The final maximum of the day went to Matt White who took control of the Adult class with three comfortable wins. Kevin Lancaster had a good day with three equally comfortable second places whilst Lewis Chapman’s smooth riding earned him third place (and the bragging rights in the Chapman house again!).

PJMC’s next meeting is the annual two day East of England challenge on the 23rd and 24th June.
