Peterborough Junior Motocross Club
2007 Championship Round 6
Butter Cup Farm Chatteris
13.5.2007
Peterborough Junior Motocross Club held its annual Carl Coleman memorial meeting (& the sixth round of its club championship) at the weekend.
The track was perfect on arrival, but the heavy rain was on the way which meant only two blocks were run eventually!!
The first block got underway in relatively dry conditions and the usual suspects in autos were all riding well. James Camwell lead from start to finish and was followed home by Jake Barsby and Luke Everett. However this was all set to change in the second block. Young Harvey Buttriss was the only auto that managed to complete the3 lap race and took a well deserved win. The rest of the group’s results were decided by virtue of who got the furthest around the track!! Jake was second, which gave him his first overall win and James was fourth meaning he finished second overall. Harvey’s win was enough to bump him up to third overall.
In the Juniors, Robert Yates was the class of the field taking wins in both the dry & the wet moto for maximum points and first overall. Charlie Buttriss was next up with two seconds in the difficult conditions. Third spot on the podium went to James Camwell after some great riding.
In the Small Wheel 85’s Jordan Hind started the day well with a start to finish win in the first moto. Jack Gregory had the hammer down securing a brilliant second place. Ride of the day went to Jordan Wills who binned it on the first lap but ripped through the pack to a great third place. In the second moto the torrential rain made for some interesting results. Race one winner Jordan H went down on lap 1 but and came back to forth place whilst Jordan “wet weather” Wills blew every one else away for the win and first overall. Oliver Townsend was comfortable in the wet and took second place in the race and third overall and an inspired Ben Stafford took third place in the race and fifth overall.
The Big Wheel 85’s saw Ben Rollinson take the overall victory with a win in race one and a third place in race two. Second place went to Sam Barney who had a poor race by his standards in moto one, but blew everyone away in the wet in moto 2. The only rider to push him was the unlucky Jamie Scott who destroyed a foot peg in the final stages of the race. Last spot on the podium went to Billy King who took to it like a duck to water in the wet race finishing with a 4/2 scorecard. Daley Coldron and George Redhead both had good first motos, but slips in the wet races dropped them down the order.
The Youth 125 had one dry and one very wet race. Sean Satchwell took another maximum haul with two comfortable wins. Peter Cole had a good day taking second overall with a second and a third place. John Hall nabbed third overall after a tie break with Ben Jeffs who finished fourth both races.
The Adults saw the best of the weather and some good racing. Matt White cruised to victory in both races and the Chapman brothers, Richard and Lewis, took second and third in both races. Jamie Milne continued his good form with fourth overall for the day.
Well done to all the riders who kept going despite some tricky conditions and thanks to the Marshalls and officials for standing out in the rain all day.
