2007 Championship Round 5
Butter Cup Farm Chatteris
29.4.2007
Peterborough Junior Motocross Club held the fifth round of its club championship at the weekend. Fine weather and a very well watered track made for some interesting racing.
The auto group saw the first maximum of the day with a flying James Camwell leading from start to finish in every race. Harvey Buttriss seems to get faster every meeting and finished in second spot on the podium after a string of second places. Luke Everett was consistent in third place all day. A quick mention for Ollie Target and Ryan Clarke who were having a great battle all day.
The Juniors saw a different winner in every race. The first win went to Jack Camwell after a tight battle with Charlie Buttriss. It was Max Target’s turn for a win in the second race after Charlie hit the deck and a broken gearshift left Jack limping home. Finally the third race win and the overall went to Charlie. Max finished off with a fine second place and second overall leaving Jack to pick up third spot. Ryan Rudd finished in fourth place after a great days riding including a third place in race two.
In the Small Wheel 85’s Jordan Hind took another maximum, only headed for a couple of laps all day by younger brother, Max, who came home with three second places. Ben Stafford took a well-deserved third place after some close racing with Justin Dillion. Unfortunately for Justin he DNF’d in race one which dropped him down the order despite a couple of third place finishes.
The Big Wheel 85’s saw the 150f of Ben Rollinson head home in first place in race one and two. Sam Barney couldn’t quite match Ben on the day, following him home in second place in both races. Daley Coldron stepped up to the mark in the final race getting the hole shot and leading from start to finish. Ben had a bad start but ripped through the pack to finish in second only a bike length behind Daley, which was enough for the overall win. There were several pile-ups throughout the day in the class, which left the final standings very close. Both Sam and Daley were involved in one at some stage, but did enough to finish second and third respectively for the day. A quick mention for Aaron Edwards, Mark Sharman and Kiene Blake who all managed a top three finish at some point in the day.
The Schoolboy 125’s saw a dominating performance from Sean Satchwell and maximum points for his efforts. Joe Wagstaff stepped it up a gear this week including a hole shot in the last race, showing he could be a threat for the rest of the year and his smooth riding earned him second place overall. Richard Piccaver was also on top form slipping into third overall only one point behind Joe. Luke Riley and Ashley Moulds also achieved top three finishes during the day, but a hot four stroke proved too difficult to start for Ashley after a fall in race two, dropping him down the field.
A large field of Adults saw the return of Matt White this week, who cruised to victory in each race and never looked in danger of loosing the lead. Kevin Lancaster pushed as hard as he could but didn’t have quite enough to catch Matt. Richard Chapman’s 2/3/3 scorecard nabbed him third place for the day only a couple of points behind Kevin.
