2008 Championship Round 4
Butter Cup Farm Chatteris
20th April 2008
PJMC held the fourth round of its club championship at the weekend at the well prepared Buttercup farm track at Chatteris.
In the auto group a flying Brandon Douglas romped home to the first race win followed by Sam Curtis, Samuel Painter and Thomas Whittaker. In races two and three Sam Curtis turned on the style taking races two and three over Brandon for the overall win.
In the Junior 65’s Jack Camwell took three comfortable wins and maximum points with some stylish riding. It was pretty open through the rest of the field with Ashley Rudd, Kyle Jenkins, Callum Fletcher, James Camwell, Cameron Rayner all securing top three placings at some point in the proceedings. However it was Ashley who came through for second place overall with two solid second place finishes followed by Kyle in third.
In the Small Wheel 85’s Max Hind had three comfortable start to finish wins for the overall victory. Max Targett came home in second please and was well clear of third place man in every race. The real battle of the day was for third, fourth and fifth place. This was a close fought battle between Ben Stafford, Tom Painter and Ryan Rudd ultimately finishing in that order.
In the Big Wheel 85’s it was a four horse race between Aaron Edwards, Jordan Jugg, Jordan Hind. & David Howard. Jordan H took the early lead in race 1, but hit the deck leaving Aaron to take the win and a flying David for second place despite a poorly bike, which didn’t finish race 2. Aaron took race two from Jordan H but the best race of the day was race three between Jordan Jugg and Aaron who were only inches apart for the whole race. Jordan took the last race win, but it wasn’t enough for the overall, which went to Aaron.
In the Youth 125 it was the 2 stroke of Sean Satchwell that came home first in every race with some super fast riding. Richard Piccaver and Billy King pushed hard in every race with some very close racing and finished second and third respectively. The next five riders were only seconds apart in every race but Daniel Cassey headed this pack in fourth place.
In the Adults Rob Flaherty took the first race win over Joe Wagstaff and Simon Sparrow. In race two Rob was leading again closely followed by Simon and both had pulled a small gap on the rest of the field. On the second lap Rob hit the ground very hard in front of Simon and looked like he was hurt. Incredibly Simon ditched his own bike and protected Rob from the rest of the charging field when he could have romped home to a win. This left the door open for Joe who took full advantage with the win and Mark Rudd took second and Jamie Milne third. In race three Joe took the win over a battered Rob and Simon came through in third.
