Peterborough Junior Motocross Club

2007 Championship Round 4

Butter Cup Farm Chatteris

22.4.2007

Peterborough Junior Motocross Club held the 4th round of its club championship at the weekend. Fine weather and a fantastically prepared track greeted the riders.

The auto group saw the first maximum of the day with Bradley Skinner setting a scorching pace and pulling a good lead in each race. James Camwell continued his good form with three comfortable second place finishes and Harvey Buttriss made the podium with three fine third places.

In the Juniors Charlie Buttriss set the pace taking the first two race wins by a healthy margin. It was odds on for Charlie to take the maximum until his bike stopped in the final race due to the fuel being turned off!! This gave the lead and the possibility of the overall to Jack Camwell who had already secured second place in both of the first two races. It wasn’t going to be Jacks day either as he hit the dirt towards the end of the race and gifted the win to a fast improving Max Targett. Whilst this was going on Charlie ripped through the pack to third place, which was enough to earn him top spot on the podium for the meeting.

In the Small Wheel 85’s it was business as usual for Jordan Hind who took the second and final maximum of the day. Max Hind’s great starts helped him to pressure his elder brother for a little while in each race but he had his hands full with a flying Scooter Webster hot on his tail. Max and Scooter had a great battle in each race, with Scooter just piping Max to second overall.

In the Big Wheel 85’s Sam Barney was on top form on his two stroke KTM. He won the first two races but an incident in the last race meant he missed out on the maximum but did enough for the overall win. Daley Coldron and Ben Rollinson were battling hard on their four strokes. Daley did enough to finish second on the day despite a last race win for Ben. The unluckiest rider on the day was probably Jack Webb who finished second in race one, but a spectacular crash in race two spoilt his day.

The Schoolboy 125’s saw some of the closest and most exciting racing of the day. Sean Satchwell headed the field in the first race after an exciting battle with Lee Sharpe. In the second race Lee’s bike self-destructed which left Ashley Moulds and Sean battling for first and second place. Ashley just got the better of Shaun in this one which meant the overall win would go down to the last race. Lee Sharp borrowed a bike in the last race and cleared off into the distance for the win but the real excitement was an elbow-to-elbow battle for the whole race between Shaun and Ashley for the overall.  Shaun tried everything but Ashley did enough to take the race win and the overall by a whisker!!

Last but not least were the Adults. Local brothers Lewis and Richard Chapman were favourites for the wins and they didn’t disappoint taking all three between them!! Lewis took two wins and a third place, which was plenty for a long overdue overall first place finish. Richard took the other win but a crash or two cost him a top 3 finish.  Jamie Milne had a blinding day with consistent high finishes earning him second overall. Finally the TRM Honda of Mark Rudd made last spot on the podium, his highlight being a second place in the last race after a brilliant ride.
