Peterborough Junior Motocross Club

Championship Round 3

Buttercup Farm – Chatteris

12th March 2006

Peterborough Junior Motocross club is going from strength to strength with another very well attended meeting at the weekend.

The impressive Buttercup Farm track was a little sloppy in practice, but by the time the first block of racing commenced it was near perfect.

The usual suspects were in the frame in the autos. Jack Camwell continues to dominate the class this year and got another maximum for his efforts and Troy Willerton and Ashley Rudd continued their usual battle for second and third place, finishing it that order.

In the Juniors, day member Scooter Webster rode very well and took maximum points.

Max Hind was never far behind achieving second place in the first two races, but a mechanical problem dropped him down the points in the last race, which resulted in a disappointing third overall.

This opened the door for Grant Sparrow to slip into second place with his consistent results.

A special mention for Ben Stafford who rode his socks of and managed a third place in race two and the accolade of “Rider of the Meeting”.

In the small wheel 85’s the front three riders Jordan Hind, Jack Gower and Daley Coldron were well ahead of the rest of the pack.

Jack took the first race by the smallest margin, but Jordan upped his game for the rest of the day taking the next two wins and overall victory.

Daley also upped his pace in the last race and took second place for his efforts.

In the big wheel 85s consistency was the name of the game. The overall victory went to Liam Askew with a third and two second places.

Ben Jeffs won race one, but a fall in race two meant settling for second place on the day.

The unluckiest rider was Sean Satchwell. He was the fastest rider on the day and took two race wins, but problems in the first race meant he had to settle for third overall.

In the Schoolboy 125’s super smooth Josh Mcdonald continued his winning ways with maximum points.

Joe Wagstaff was next up with three very strong second places and the final step on the podium went to Peter Cole.

The Adult class is very competitive this year. Cain Firth took victory in the second and third race and the overall win, despite only getting fifth place in the first race after a crash. Shaun Smith and Adie Thompson battled throughout the day and actually tied on points, but virtue of his second place in the last race, pipped Adie to the post for second overall. Ricky Scotney won the first race, but couldn’t repeat it, hence finished fourth overall.
