Peterborough Junior Motocross Club Sept 24th 2006
Round 11 of Club Championship
Butter Cup Farm Chatteris
The last round of the PJMC championship was held on Sunday. Perfect track conditions greeted the riders and some great battles took place to settle the club championship positions once and for all in 2006.
The top three auto riders dug deep and entertained us all with some of the closet racing of the season. Jake Edey started the day off well with a win in moto one followed closely by Ashley Rudd, whilst the other front-runner, Thomas Brown suffered a mechanical set back and could only make fourth place. This was soon to change in moto’s two and three when Thomas got the bit between his teeth and romped home with two long overdue wins for first overall despite lots of pressure from Jake and Ashley. Declan Parberry deserves a mention after a great days riding. His two thirds and a fourth put him in fourth overall.
The first maximum of the day came from Max Hind in the Junior 65’s. He took control of each race from the start and finished the day unbeaten. Ben Stafford continued his good form with another trio of second places whilst Grant Sparrow did enough for third place despite a lot of pressure from young Robert Yates.
The next maximum came from Jordan Hind in the small wheel 85’s. He didn’t put a foot wrong all day to take victory despite a hard charging Rob Nicoll being hot on his heels in every moto. Aaron Edwards, Jordan Jugg and Kiene Blake battled hard all day and finished in that order.
In the Big Wheel 85’s Sean Satchwell made it look easy to take another maximum despite not having the best starts. Ben Rollison keeps getting faster and faster and pulled three seconds places out of the bag for second overall and Alistair Reeve’s hole shots helped him claim the last place on the podium.
In the Youth 125’s Lewis Kerr took the next maximum on his 250F Honda with some great riding. Ashley Moulds pushed hard for second place but couldn’t quite match Lewis’s pace. Peter Cole finished his season off well with a fine third place.
In the Adults the Chapman brothers, Lewis and Richard, took it in turns to give day member Kevin Gomm a run for his money. Richard pushed Kevin all the way in the first moto until Richard hit the deck on the last lap leaving the door open for Kevin to take the win. In the second Moto it was Lewis who headed the field for most of the race until Kevin found a way past towards the end of the race. By the third moto the result was inevitable, a maximum for Kevin, despite being pushed very hard by the Chapmans! A quick mention for Mark Rudd who was never far behind in fourth place.
